Energy Shield

Energy Shield is a defensive card that absorbs one attack per charge, letting you survive a hit that would otherwise damage or kill your tower. Once a charge is spent, it comes back on a timer, with the recharge interval shrinking as you upgrade the card.

Description

Energy Shield gives your tower a charge that completely negates a single incoming attack, no matter how much damage that attack would have dealt. After a charge is consumed, a new one recharges over time. Upgrading the card shortens that recharge window, starting at 20 minutes and dropping through 18, 16, 14, 12 and 10 minutes down to 8 minutes at maximum level.

Use

The recharge runs on game time rather than wave count. Wave Skip does not advance the timer when it skips a level, but Wave Accelerator shortens the game-time gap between waves, so more waves will pass during each recharge cycle. Raising Game Speed makes the shield recharge faster in real time without changing how many waves elapse per recharge. Even with the card fully upgraded, each recharge spans more than 10 waves, so treat it as protection against occasional leaks rather than sustained pressure.

Energy Shield sits within a chain of death-prevention effects that trigger in a set priority. If you take lethal damage, Death Defy gets the first chance to activate. If it does not, Energy Shield spends a charge to absorb the hit — note that the shield responds to any damage, not just lethal damage, whenever it has a charge available. When no higher-priority effect is available, Second Wind activates next, followed by Demon Mode if you run Smart Demon Mode Automation, and finally Nuke with Smart Nuke Automation. Smart Nuke does not clear projectiles already in flight, but since v27.3 it also grants 15 seconds of invulnerability when it fires.

Energy Shield Extra Hit

Energy Shield Extra Hit is a lab unlocked through Milestones at tier 4 wave 300, and it has 2 levels. Each level adds an extra charge to the shield, so you can absorb multiple hits before running dry.

Charges recover one at a time, in sequence. If you lose two or more charges, the next one cannot start recharging until the charge ahead of it has finished. A charge becomes usable the moment it completes, even while later charges are still refilling. The level costs are listed in the table below.
